Ugene's Swimming Learning Story

So you are here to hear about my swimming journey (more like less). I will get started. So for the first day, I was not swimming but I was like swimming is so important because New Zealand has a lot of water around it.

To be real with you at first I was not looking forward to swimming. The thing I was confident with was trending water because when I’m with my family we always go to the deep end and my mum and dad will always start to trend the water so I can breathe and not drown.


My teacher was not only Abby but also my mum and dad. As you can tell from the last paragraph I also love the boat safety because my mum and dad are thinking of buying a boat and I know how to be safe on a boat. I can tell my mum and dad that if we get a boat we will be safe (may be safe on the boat)


I just like to say thank the teacher that have taken their time out to teach me and my classmates swimming. I most like to thank Abby for the teacher that took me.

Every Thursday’s Year 7 & 8’s  go to Brandon Intermediate with Natone Park School to find and pursue a passion we are yet to find. Ugene 2017 Athletics learning story

Ugenes Athletic Story: Today I was exhausted, tired and sore. If you are still wondering what I am talking about, I am talking about 'Athletic Days’ My first activity was discus throw where I got bronze. I was good at cheering people on and using the right arm technique so I can throw the discus further. Something I liked was sprint's/long distances. At the end of the activity, I was sweating with tired legs. In sprints, I got silver and gold for long distances. I was good at not worrying if I was coming last I still persevered and kept on running. The activity I didn’t like was high jump I found it difficult to lift my leg and to jump high but the skill I used was to ignore any distractions happening and focusing on getting myself over the pole. My next steps are to use both my arm and leg movement so I can easily move my body to make it over the pole. The next activity was vortex, I got bronze.
