Ugene 2017 Athletics learning story

Ugenes Athletic Story:


Today I was exhausted, tired and sore. If you are still wondering what I am talking about, I am talking about 'Athletic Days’


My first activity was discus throw where I got bronze. I was good at cheering people on and using the right arm technique so I can throw the discus further.

Something I liked was sprint's/long distances. At the end of the activity, I was sweating with tired legs. In sprints, I got silver and gold for long distances. I was good at not worrying if I was coming last I still persevered and kept on running.

The activity I didn’t like was high jump I found it difficult to lift my leg and to jump high but the skill I used was to ignore any distractions happening and focusing on getting myself over the pole. My next steps are to use both my arm and leg movement so I can easily move my body to make it over the pole.


The next activity was vortex, I got bronze. The technique I used was keeping my throw straight and not aiming for anything. My next steps are to use my arm strength to throw further and harder.


My most liked activity was shotput because I got gold on the first throw. I was good at following the directions/instructions and encouraging others to do their best.


Athletics day was a challenging day for me but I enjoyed trying out new skills.
