Ugene’s Art Learning story 

In my classroom we have been learning about how to create a surrealist piece of art.

Surrealist art is where you draw visions of your dreams and make it real and who you like it.

So it  been like 8 or 9  weeks of doing  surrealist art in Aroha Tuakana 11 and 10 and I sort of enjoyed it but the thing I don’t like  is that it have to make it look real and not fake.


So something that I was OK at was mixing up things and blending them eg the features.  Like I put a gun as a mouth which represents my great great grandad because he was in the war.

One thing that I was so not good at was  making my face shape look real and not like a egg shape face and more like a regular face and not a egg shape face.


I think that I got better at making things look like something they are not like my eyes they look like something they are not because I put my mum and dad in my eyes because they are a big part of my identity.

Jillian's feedback: I think you were good at putting things that represent your identity in your art because I know that the gun as your mouth represents your grandfather that went to war. 


You could work on trying to make it look a little bit more realistic because then it could be like the surrealist part.
