Ugene _ Athletics learning

Image
We were  learning to improve our athletics skills so we could do our best on athletics day Last week on Thursday and Friday we had trials for inter-school athletics but sadly I did not make it. I was good at keeping on trying and never giving up even when I wanted to give up. Because when I did not give up I got better and got a bronze. I need to work on listening to the feedback because it will help me improve by telling me what I need to work on next to make it into athletics. I need to work on swinging my arms at a 90 degree angle because it will make me cut through the air and go fire and higher. I am going to achieve my next steps are not to give up and try harder because when I try harder I can accomplish my goal and get what I want.

Ugene and Jillian Earthquake Poem

Image
The Day It Struck Can’t run, can’t hide Thinking of the things that might happen. Hearing my cousins screaming gives me the shivers straight down my spine. “Are yous alright” I ask My dog was barking as loud as if he’s trying to tell us something. The table was doing a crazy hula. Stiff as a statue, Not knowing what to do. Voices were saying… “Kids come quick hurry, hurry” Mom said The earthquakes finished but I’m too worried to sleep. By Jillian and Ugene

Ugene art learning story

Image
Purpose: How do we create bold images that represent our ancestors and what they are remembered for? I was good at using bold lines in my artwork because I did not colour on the  lines and it made my artwork more  bold. Another thing I was good at was using bright colours to make my ancestor portrait stand out. I need to work on using cultural patterns  like maori because i did not use a lots of maori  patterns in my artwork.

Titahi Bay Poem

Poem: Summer Vibes: As I feel the sand tickle my feet when I take my first steps onto the beach, The scorching sun burns underneath my feet causing them to go bright red, The vibrant colours of the beach sends summery vibes down my spine, ‘Splash’ I can hear the waves crashing into each other as they become parallel, Indicating that it is time for summer, I hear joy and laughter, Coming from the beach, Overlooking the distance, I see the bitter waves splash onto the rough rocks, I run towards the clear distance and into the freezing water. My feet start feeling paralyzed, I run out of the water and into the warmth of the sun, I watch as the sun meets its end, The warmth turns to coldness, It was time to go home.

Ugene Poem Learning Story

Purpose:To describe the cloud in personification Emotional Cloud: My happiness is sadness, My goal is destructive, My emotions change in a second, I am frightening to people, But to others I’m normal, My  inside is joy, My  outside is anger, My tears fall to the ground as light hits, The way I strike when I am angry, Gives people a scared feeling, Leaving them blankless, No word spoken, No noise to be heard, Silence is what I have earned, But when I am happy and feeling funny, My anger goes away and out comes the inside me. I was good at using powerful words e.g destructive I can use personification for e.g My  inside is joy, My  outside is anger. I got better at using personification becaused I used it alot in my writing. It was hard to make the cloud into personification because I don't usually use it. I feel frustrated when I'm writing my poem because it's hard coming up with ideas. My next steps are to use personi...

Reportback about my library

Image
Reporting back on my library book My book is called: The Bad Book It is a   fiction by  Andy Griffiths. The illustrator is Terry Denton I chose it because it looked funny When I read it I found out that the parent are bad because they killed their own son by saying “No” all the time eg “Bad Daddy say no” I also worked out that the bad ant went up to the old lady and killed her because she was in the way. If I was the parent I would not kill my son because that is crazy to kill your son. I think the parents are crazy because they killed their son. The author made me visualise by using figurative language like

My Swimming Learning Story. Purpose: To be safe in the water and learn how to swim At Cannon Creek Pools we were learning how to be safe in the water. We know how to do  backstroke, freestyle and to do a dolphin dive. I got better at doing backstroke because I always stop when we had to swim to the other end. Ioana thinks I was good at doggy paddle because she thought I was using my hands to help me float in the water and she said that I was good at freestyle because I was nice and calm enough to swim slowly and was able to breathe properly while doing the freestyle

Ugene's Library Book Learning Story

Image
My library book is called: Wizard of Oz .It is a narrative. It is by Mauro Evangelista.   We were learning to make meaning from our library book and enjoy getting lost in the book.   I am good at inferring ideas about my library book because, they do not post a lot of information about the characters. I work out that one of my character cared for other characters in the book. The caring character was Dorothy because she helped all of other character like tin man and lions and scarecrow. I can use the pictures to give me a clue of the hard words when I get stuck and I can reread the text so it make sense when I read it.

Ugene’s Learning Story About Working Together To Learn Maths We were learning to be clever at working in a group. I was good at working together with my group because we were sharing ideas with each and including everyone. I need to work on sharing ideas in the order we did them because I have clever ideas but I’m too shy to share my clever ideas. I got better at handling it when it’s hard because when it’s hard I ask clever questions like Why questions so I can understand the problem. By Ugene

kate's taonga

Image
Purpose : to make a container that is the right size to Protect Kate's taonga. We were good at sharing ideas with my group and planing our   ideas with the group and trying new ways like using each others ideas. We need to work on thinking about what we are doing because we got carried away so we need to work on not rushing.  We got better at not giving up when it got hard because we were sharing ideas with each other and it got easier when sharing ideas.

My Name

My name I’m named after my dad’s uncle. My name is Ugene Rangi Ford Tamatoa Clarke. My name is special to me because my dad’s uncle passed away and my dad and mum said “I like that name Ugene”. My mum and dad named me Ugene because my dad’s father’s brother’s name is Ugene and my mum and dad decided to go with Ugene. I like my name because my dad’s uncle is a cool man. When I say my name, it reminds me of my dad’s uncle. My nickname at school is Gene because it is short for Ugene and it is easy to say.  so i like my nickname  because my friend’s do not know how to say my name.   I feel happy about my name but I also feel sad when my mum and dad tells me about my dad’s uncle when he passed away. By Ugene We were learning to share about our name I was good at putting lots of detail about my name because my teacher wrote it in my comment. I need to work on not doing one idea over and over again so my story doesn't get bori...
