Every Thursday’s Year 7 & 8’s  go to Brandon Intermediate with Natone Park School to find and pursue a passion we are yet to find. At tech we learn about Art, Hard Materials, Sewing, Cooking and Music. In Term 1, I was in Music. Every week we did a music quiz which helped us recognize different songs. The night I did polyfest_Moment In time “Mum it is almost 5.30.We need to go now to Hosanna for Polyfest.” “Mum I’m so nervous I think I could eat a whole tub of ice cream”. “Can we just go back home and forget about the whole polyfest because theres always another year, aye”. Ugenes Athletic Story: Today I was exhausted, tired and sore. If you are still wondering what I am talking about, I am talking about 'Athletic Days’ My first activity was discus throw where I got bronze. I was good at cheering people on and using the right arm technique so I can throw the discus further. Something I liked was sprint's/long distances. At the end of the activity, I was sweating with tired legs. In sprints, I got silver and gold for long distances. I was good at not worrying if I was coming last I still persevered and kept on running. The activity I didn’t like was high jump I found it difficult to lift my leg and to jump high but the skill I used was to ignore any distractions happening and focusing on getting myself over the pole. My next steps are to use both my arm and leg movement so I can easily move my body to make it over the pole. The next activity was vortex, I got bronze. Polyfest Learning Story At Corinna school we have been practicing and preparing ourselves for Polyfest. During the practices I was good at giving the little kids instructions on what to do. Another thing I was good at was listening to what my tutor says and always not getting distracted by others. At first I felt nervous performing in front of most  people I know but overtime I grew confident. I was good at stepping out of my comfort zone and showing my ‘love’ for my culture. Thursday the 10th was the day we made our way down to Hosanna Church ready to perform in front of our families. My family noticed my big actions/ joyful smiles. I could see my parents crying tears of joy. My next steps is to be more confident and to step out of my comfort zone which means singing louder. Ugene's Violin Learning Story In violin we have been learning to play beginner songs. My violin teacher has been teaching me how to play Viva la vida but the beginner part.   I’m good at reading the music notes because when our violin teacher say two fingers on the g string I can play it I need to work on being confident and not being afraid to perform in front of people. In the future I will like to be a famous violinist who plays for the Wellington Orchestra. When I become a famous violinist, I would like to thank Liz for teaching me and thank her for making me be the best I can be.

Camp Makahika Presentation:

Ugenes Maths Learning Story: In maths, we have been learning how to cooperate together and share our ideas with our math group. Maths Problem : Rico builds a string of beads using 3 colors, starting with white, black then red then repeating the pattern. The answer we were trying to figure out in this problem is ‘what the last colored bead?’ First I went 103 divided by 3. We then went 3 x 30 = 90 because we were trying to figure out the groups of 103, from our prior knowledge we knew there were 13 beads left over. We were trying to figure out how many groups of 3 are in 13. We then found out the answer to ‘how many groups of 3 are in 13 which was 4. The given answer was 4 and this is how we all worked together to solve a problem. Cubism Art Learning Story I was good at taking risks and not worrying If it doesn't look like the same as the real thing and I used bold lines so they know wot the art will look like. In need to work on using my own stay in the art so it doesn't look the same as the real artwork and it can look different to the real artwork. I need to work on taking my time and not rushing when I'm drawing the art so I can get every little detail in the artwork. Feedback: you used thick/straight lines I like the way you use bold in the art. You used a good color combination.
